When no is the only word

If you live in a world

where no is the only word,

imagine how this will

make you

feel.

And if you love in a culture

where only no is heard,

imagine how this will

make you

weal.

And if you live a childhood

of no all the time,

imagine how difficult

it’ll be to make love

rhyme.

And imagine you know me

and now know the truth,

and the tale that has led me here

almost to die.

And imagine you now understand

exactly where I’ve been:

could you finally forgive me

and love me again?
