[No longer hen-]{pecked}

She pecked his cheek 

and checked his peek 

and left his peak 

atop his head:

and she loved his head 

and she loved to give,

and she loved 

to sit him underneath.

And beneath his sex

and beneath his cries 

she never pecked him 

as hens wrong-

sized.

And now she 

gives him the

life he’d wanted,

but never did see

with that awful strife 

he’s always gone

and been. 

And so now he’s good

and so now

his future’s bold,

and so now is his

nature; 

and so now is his

love.
