Ecstasy / Tragedy

The biggest ecstasy

resides – like beautiful

friendships do –

at home

in roaming back and forth:

where two people

love, and for both

this love works fine.

And the biggest tragedy

resides – like saddening

friendships do –

at home

in roaming forth and back:

where two people

live, and for neither

party does this live work at all.

And between the latter

tragedy

and the wondrous former

ecstasy

I find myself utterly nonplussed

to discover that love in itself

is not quite enough

to tame

the us

we once might have kind remained.
