Today as she sank, she swam [without help]

She suffered and squandered

the good

credit of old:

yet equally bold, she

fought and battled

and as she

hurt,

bought her way

back to

[up]front

this terrifying day.

And now she is

firmer for having

survived,

and for having learnt –

thriving – that

against these bastards

amelioration does serve

not to let them off

hooks, but to allow the good

to survive the pay

[back]ing

of grinding taskmasters

who need to be re-

tort-

ed

lessons;

no messing, mate,

at all.
