Marr[y] me

I only ever did ask two women in my life

whether they wanted,

desired, even cared to marry me:

and both,

in different ways,

said no.

The first signed the contract

and then pushed me away.

The second promised the whirled

and then did destroy my life for thirteen years,

and the life of my wife

for ever.

What a disgrace,

am I; what a mess.

What a strife I no longer

can lead.
