Even when things don’t work out …

Even when things don’t work out with the people you

wished they might have worked out,

around them and about them, and inside and out them, even so

you do remember her still, never can forget, always

will recall her tall and handsome beauty; her gorgeous

grave voice; the way she toyed with your

feelings; and the evenings you once imagined you

might conceivably spend together: oh, and how

together you wanted her to be with you; how together

you gathered her skin, and in and out and clout and brains,

and her sane matter-of-fact, and her whole glorious

whirled: I do so wish I could reverse this time; say sorry;

and worry about a future no longer lost to my stupidity.
